such bullshit

this haditha massacre of 24 civilians is such bullshit, as far as controversies go. obviously this kind of thing happens all the time. that is just the way war works. if you give soldiers guns and train them to kill enemies, but don’t train them how to do law enforcement, and then send them out somewhere to fight a nameless, faceless enemy that hides in the shadows... well... just don’t be surprised if the soldiers go on killing sprees. the problem is, our american media actually reported it this time. the arab media has been broadcasting information about atrocities carried out by our troops, ever since the war in iraq began. i mean, hello? has anyone heard of fallujah? and what about “shock and awe”? you think those big giant bombs bush dropped at the beginning of the war didn’t kill innocent people? keep dreamin’. of course they killed innocent people. and our air force does airstrikes against innocent iraqis all the time. they call it “collateral damage”. and in afghanistan, how many wedding parties has our air force bombed the crap out of? who knows? these right-wingers don’t give a damn if innocent people die. all they care about is their stupid president, and brainwashing us into being a militaristic society. it is that us versus them crap again. american lives matter, iraqi lives don’t. and of course the 4th-reich-wingers are pretending they care about the 24 civilians who were killed in haditha. what a joke! sure they care. just like they cared about us invading a country on false pretenses and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS! 24 is nothing. anyone who thinks this is just about 24 civilians is totally missing the point. we obviously killed thousands of times as many innocent people in iraq as were killed in that one massacre. by “we” i mean, the united states, collectively, acting as a nation. and if you, like me, disapprove of this, too bad. because guess what? we have no power. the liar-in-chief has all the power. jail to the thief! and i just heard 90% of the troops currently serving in iraq STILL believe we invaded iraq because of saddam hussein’s “role” in the 9/11 attacks. talk about brainwashing! if our troops are THAT brainwashed, NO WONDER they are going around berserk, killing innocent people! if we expect our troops to be able to exercise sound judgement and not go around killing innocent people all the time, we ought to expect, first of all, that our troops be told the truth and not lied to all the time. our government has betrayed the troops and maliciously exploited and taken advantage of their naive trust in our president. our soldiers are more misinformed about why they are fighting than anyone! and i recently took a public speaking class with a guy who was a soldier in iraq. he didn’t want to talk much about what had happened there, it seemed traumatic, and he was in the marines. but what he did say was that he had a very negative impression of iraqis and it’s hard for him to see them as actual people, and the longer he served in iraq the more he disliked the iraqi people. i think this is probably the way almost all the soldiers there feel about the iraqis. we are at war in iraq, and our enemy is the iraqi people. they are fighting our occupying army so our soldiers in iraq are fighting them. any patriotic, self-respecting people will rise up in armed resistance against any foreign occupier. that is just the way it works. but our soldiers have all bought into the hype that we are there to defend this sovereign iraqi democracy, and that we are fighting against al qaeda in iraq, led by abu musab al-zarqawi. the truth is, most iraqis are shiites, and zarqawi wants to kill all shiites because he thinks they are infidels, so if we left, the iraqis would crush him anyway. groups like muqtada al-sadr’s mehdi army would lead the way; al qaeda is a sunni organization and the shiites would not tolerate it. so why don’t we just let people like muqtada al-sadr run iraq? it’s cuz we don’t like the iranian mullahs and don’t want another shiite theocracy, so our government has been forcing the iraqis to form a “unity” government against their will. the shiite parties have a clear majority in the parliament and they could easily rule the country without support from sunni arabs or kurds. we are just obstructing them because we are worried about iranian influence. but it is their country, not ours, and if the iraqis want to be a shiite country and ally with iran, let them go ahead and do it. it is not our place to tell them to be a democracy and form a unity government and allow us to maintain foreign military bases and keep our occupying troops in their country. so ridiculous... that we would kill people in order to liberate them and bring them freedom and democracy. yeah... you’ll be able to vote once you’re dead, cuz we’ll fix the elections, heh heh. really makes me sick. it is good the american cia puppet iyad allawi is out of power (because how on earth could the iraqis govern themselves if their leader is an american puppet and cia asset) but it is very clear that we are still keeping the iraqi government on a short leash. their government has to meet inside the heavily fortified “green zone” which is guarded by united states troops. so, if they REALLY pissed us off, we could just “accidentally” let some suicide bomber in to blow up the iraqi parliament. that’s the kind of thing that gives us leverage. it’s hard for the iraqi leaders to be too anti-american, when they rely on u.s. forces for their personal protection. but come on! WE NUKED HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! 24 people is nothing! the war crimes of the united states of america are far worse than a mere 24 deaths of the innocent. at least the german and japanese people have repented for their sins, and become more enlightened nations. they are now both nations of pacifists, yet a few decades ago they were fascist, militarist, expansionist, genocidal dictatorships. what will it take for us to repent? i have a feeling that when the rapture comes and exactly 144,000 people vanish into thin air, the reason they all vanish into thin air will be a nuclear bomb that just vaporized them. and who would launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against an unarmed enemy? george w. bush. that’s why “all options are on the table with iran”. that is washington code-speak for “we have not yet arrived at a final decision about whether we will pre-emptively launch nuclear weapons to kill massive numbers of innocent civilians on purpose”. don’t you just love our president? i feel so safe, knowing that the world’s most psychotic killer is the most powerful person on the planet. he will keep us safe, by killing lots of innocent people who really are quite harmless in hindsight, but sort of seemed like they might possibly be dangerous, perhaps, if you are as insane as he is. have you ever heard his schtick about how he is fighting this war to bring peace to the world? it is really a hilarious comedy routine, and he does the whole thing with a straight face. the kicker is, i think the bastard doesn’t even get his own joke... he is THAT dense. he really believes the bullshit he’s saying. and that’s why he is more dangerous than any terrorist mastermind of al qaeda could possibly be. no wait, the terrorists also believe the bullshit that they say. ok, the real reason he is so dangerous is, he is the commander-in-chief of the world’s only superpower, and he is a deranged madman. yeah. that’s it. anyway, my greatest worry is that george w. bush will singlehandedly bring about the extinction of the human race, before his term is up. hey, nuclear war does that to people. all we have to do is nuke another country, and it’s all over. at least we can hope that the foreign leaders who have nukes will not be as insane as our president is. at least we can hope. but the very existence of so many nuclear weapons on hair-trigger alert means our extinction as a species is a statistical certainty in the near future, at least on a geologic time frame, where things are measured in thousands or millions of years. we probably won’t even last 100 years. that is what my astronomy teaching assistant told me when we were calculating terms for the drake equation. pretty depressing stuff, if ya ask me.
